Good Shepherd Savannah

What are your experiences and areas of service that you believe will be valuable in your role as a General Conference delegate?

I am the pastor of Good Shepherd Savannah, a church less than a year old with no building of our own, that is finding creative ways to reach new people with the Gospel. God has given us the opportunity to connect with dozens of new families and young adults, help them take the next right steps in faith, and equip them to serve in mission in our community.

I was elected to the 2020 UMC jurisdictional delegation and chaired both a District Committee on Ministry and the Conference Board of Ministry, so I have experience with the “big picture” issues and the detail work necessary to prepare for our first GMC General Conference.

I currently serve as a member of our inaugural Board of Ministry and as presiding elder for the 21 churches of the Savannah and Effingham area.

Describe why you believe that God has potentially called you to serve as a General Conference delegate.

I have had a broad range of ministry experience over the last 25 years as a pastor in large and small churches, as a campus ministry chaplain, and as a missionary in a Central Asian country where Christians were a small counter-cultural minority.

All of that has prepared me to take a fresh risk and lead a team planting a new church in an urban/suburban area where Christians find themselves once again as a joyful counter-cultural witness for the truth and power of the Gospel.

This missionary calling is at the heart of the Global Methodist Church and will govern our ability to grow as a structurally efficient, faith-fueled, and mission-driven movement.
