Trinity Chapel Methodist Church (Laity)

What are your experiences and areas of service that you believe will be valuable in your role as a General Conference delegate?

As a life-long Methodist, I have served 3 terms as Chair of our Administrative Council, am currently serving as Co-chair of our SPRC Committee and also currently serving my second term as Lay Delegate, I was on our Way Forward Committee that studied the issues regarding disaffiliation and was Co-chair of our Way Forward Committee regarding affiliation. Our church voted 100% to affiliate with the GMC. Prior to living on Tybee Island, I was a member of Matthews UMC in North Carolina and served as Co-chair of a significant capital campaign to build a new campus. This church became a 3000+ member congregation. As a son of a Methodist minister, I am very familiar with Wesleyan principles. I have spent the majority of my church life in small and medium-sized churches. I have witnessed first-hand the importance of these churches to their communities. I would like to serve as a delegate to General Conference to follow through with the shaping of our Book of Discipline. It is very important to insure that our traditional Methodist values and doctrines be maintained.

Describe why you believe that God has potentially called you to serve as a General Conference delegate.

I have been struggling for a number of years, praying to God, asking what does He want me to do. I know God called me to be in this process from the very beginning. It’s been a difficult journey but I know God called me to take it. My desire is to answer His call and be faithful to His word.
