First Methodist Church of Albany
What are your experiences and areas of service that you believe will be valuable in your role as a General Conference delegate?
For the past 15 years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as a Methodist pastor in congregations across South Georgia. My commitment to the broader Methodist movement has offered opportunities that have enriched my faith and love for theologically informed organizational strategy.
Currently, within the Global Methodist Church, I serve on the 2024 General Conference Credentialing Committee. We are working to prepare the way for the delegates and volunteers at our historic inaugural General Conference in Costa Rica. I also serve on the South Georgia Annual Conference Planning Committee, where I assist in shaping the breakout sessions for our conference sessions.
In previous roles, I served as the Chair of the Order of Elders and a dedicated member of the Board of Ordained Ministry’s Executive Committee within the South Georgia Annual Conference of the UMC. In these roles, my collaborative efforts helped clarify and strengthen our mission, particularly through the innovative interview process we implemented during the pandemic. Furthermore, I served on the Commission for Higher Education, a role that involved overseeing college campus ministries and supporting denominational colleges.
My doctoral focus on organizational leadership and resilience has equipped me with valuable, practical experience for my congregational and connectional work.
Describe why you believe that God has potentially called you to serve as a General Conference delegate.
I am a Methodist in my bones. The world yearns for the richness that Methodist Christianity brings: a life of intimacy with God, brimming with grace-filled optimism, and steeped in holiness—a purposeful life ignited by a passion for evangelism and mission.
Paul’s call in Colossians 1:28-29 resonates with my calling— “to present everyone mature in Christ…striving with all the energy that he mightily inspires within us.” This is the work I dedicate myself to, a calling that fuels my commitment to both the local church and the broader connection.
The approaching convening General Conference of our church stands as a pivotal moment to shape the future of the Global Methodist Church, setting a trajectory for our congregations in the years to come. I am drawn to the strategic and theological work before us. I humbly offer my gifts in organizational strategy and my love for Wesleyan theology to you, my dear friends. Serving as a delegate would be a privilege, just as serving here in South Georgia is an honor. Thank you sincerely for your consideration.
