Strong history and established friendships with key leaders of the GMC
I think several things are needed in a GC delegate:
Experience with the GC process and leading at global levels
Connections and friendships with key leaders nationally and internationally
A love and understanding of our Wesleyan/Methodist heritage
Strong leadership skills
Able to disagree in debate without becoming “disagreeable”,
Able to digest large amounts of data (legislation), analyze it quickly and accurately, and speak in such a way to be heard and respected in an atmosphere that is multi-cultural and sometimes chaotic,
Experience with “unforeseen consequences” in legislation and General Conference decisions,
A passionate love and commitment to Jesus and His/our mission in the world.
Describe why you believe that God has potentially called you to serve as a General Conference delegate.
I’ve spent the last 10+ years of my ministry fighting for traditional, biblical values in the UMC. I’d like to spend the next 10+ years of my ministry building the South Georgia GMC into a movement and organization that is nimble and passionate in living out the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.
I offer myself as a delegate for South Ga and if elected I will try to represent our Conference with strong leadership and clarity.
