Harvest Church
What are your experiences and areas of service that you believe will be valuable in your role as a General Conference delegate?
In 2016, I joined the WCA Global Board and spent 6 years with that incredible team seeking reform in the UMC. When that did not happen, we set out to build a landing pad for a new denomination, which became the Global Methodist Church. I learned a great deal during that time and built some strong relationships with Methodist Leaders worldwide. I was also a part of the team that wrote the Transitional Book of Doctrine and Discipline.
Since the age of 17, I have served the church in various vocational roles including Open Door Community House, KY Conference Council on Ministries, Christian Education, Missions and Business Administration in the local church.
When my husband Jim and I were sent to start Harvest Church we had to learn what it means to build something from the ground up. Those skills in launching and leading a large organization will be helpful in these early years of formation of the GMC.
Currently, I serve on the Leadership Team of the South Georgia GMC. As a Christian Educator I have published many Bible Studies and would love to continue to influence the direction of Biblical teaching with the next generation.
Describe why you believe that God has potentially called you to serve as a General Conference delegate.
For 40 years I have prayed and worked to be part of a traditional, warm-hearted, evangelical Methodist movement. I served on the South Ga UMC delegation, and the Global Wesleyan Covenant Association Board in hopes that we could bring about renewal. Now it is time to do a new thing!
As we close the door on one chapter, it is time to burst forth through new ones to see people won for the Lord and churches reengaged with the Great Commandment and Great Commission. My heart is to see lives changed for Christ. And, the local church is the most powerful way to see that happen!
I believe the worldwide friendships made during my time in leadership with WCA will be helpful for South Georgia. Additionally, my 23 years as the Executive Director of Harvest Church have helped to shape me as a leader. It would be an honor to represent South Georgia in this time of building a home for the next generation of Methodists.
