Daryl Brown

Americus First Methodist Church

What are your experiences and areas of service that you believe will be valuable in your role as a General Conference delegate?

God has been and continues to make a big impact on my life. Through my relationship with Jesus Christ, I have and I continue to grow and mature in my Christian walk and faith. God has always been faithful, and through the work of the Holy Spirit, I grow in my faith and dedication to God everyday.

I enjoy working with others and serving God. I have been blessed to serve God through the 35 years of ministry, which includes the last 22 years of Pastoral ministry. I serve as Senior Pastor of Americus First Methodist Church, and have help lead this congregation through the disaffiliation process and affiliation with Global Methodist Church. I have served as President of Open Door Community House Board of Directors, as well as a partner in a family business. I serve as a Law Enforcement Chaplain with several agencies, and served a 3 year appointment as Georgia Sheriffs Association Chaplains Division Senior Chaplain. I have served as a mentor to other pastors as well as serving in different capacities on local missions as well as missional opportunities to Ukraine.

I look forward to learning more about The Global Methodist Church.

Describe why you believe that God has potentially called you to serve as a General Conference delegate.

God calls me into service to others and the Holy Spirit empowers with the ability to serve as well as give me the opportunity to willingly serve. I continue to learn from the Holy Spirit to be open to ways to serve others and willing to commit to the endeavor.

Originally, I did not think about serving as a General Conference Delegate. There are many Clergy who are interested in serving, all of whom I trust and respect.

I will say that I have an increasing interest in the everyday life of the professing members of The Global Methodist Church, of the Doctrine and Discipline from which opportunities are created for every local church to be a vital part of the ministry to help transform the world for Jesus Christ. There is much excitement in the church today, revitalized through the connection with God and other Global Methodist congregations, as we seek to live faithfully in God's grace and forgiveness. I would consider it a joy and a great responsibility to have the opportunity to learn more if I were given the opportunity to serve as a delegate.

I am praying for God's guidance and all who serve God in the local church, the South Georgia Annual Conference of the Global Methodist Church as well as for those who will represent at General Conference!
