What are your experiences and areas of service that you believe will be valuable in your role as a General Conference delegate?
Over the years I have consistently served in our church in a number of roles, including Chair of Trustees, Chair of SPRC, Chair of Long Range Planning and for the last 9 years and Lay Leader and Chair of our Executive Team. In that role, I had the opportunity to lead, along with our Pastor, the process of discerning and ultimately leaving the UMC through disaffiliation. That led to many opportunities to speak to other churches about the process and also represent 96 churches and assist them, legally, with their own disaffiliation process. I have also been blessed to be asked to help establish the South Georgia GMC Conference and now serve as legal counsel to the conference. I'm not sure I ever anticipated helping our church or so many others through such a process or being involved with a church conference, but God has blessed me immeasurably through that. I look forward to continue following His will and serving our new denomination.
Describe why you believe that God has potentially called you to serve as a General Conference delegate.
The experiences God has placed before me in helping churches and helping set up our conference continues to point me to additional service as a Delegate. I continually ask for direction and I sense that being able to offer myself to serve our denomination as a delegate is the direction God has placed before me.
